Pollinators.

Bittersweet is an Eastern North American native. It is an attractive, woody vine requiring a solid structure to climb or it can be left to scramble as a groundcover. It is vigorous and spreads through suckers, it will require attention to keep it in check. The original bittersweet required a female and a male plant to have flowers. This new variety has both female and male on one plant. Shiny, dark green leaves and tiny, yellowish flowers loved by bees. As it matures orange berries will be produced near the top, these are poisonous to people and pets but a food source for birds. Celastrus scandens ‘Hercules and Diane’
